About the Principal

An award-winning classroom teacher, technology coordinator, and administrator, Joni currently works part-time as the Alberta Initiative for School Improvement Coordinator in St. Albert, Alberta , Canada. In this role, she facilitates a government initiative focused on improving student learning in grades K-12 in a district of schools.  This includes organizing and delivering extensive professional development for teachers.

Her twenty plus years of education experience includes teaching a wide range of subjects and levels including combined grades, special education, administration and university instructing.  Over the past several years, Joni has also been involved in private consulting on various topics, particularly differentiated instruction and educational technology.  She has written for journals and websites and is a co-author of nine teaching units for educators, and presents often at local, provincial national and international conferences.

Joni’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Education Degree in Elementary Education and a Masters Degree in Instructional Technology, both from the University of Alberta .  Passionate about personal and professional growth, she is a frequent learner at workshops and conferences.

Enthusiasm for learning is at the heart of her work, and her sessions focus on interactivity and practical strategies.
